Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game uses a fixed isometric perspective. The player explores connected outdoor areas, villages, buildings, and dungeons while completing objectives, finding items, and defeating enemies.
Combat takes place in real time. Progression comes from exploration, equipment, usable objects, and story events rather than from a complex character-class system. Some versions support cooperative play, but the available mode depends on the release and setup.
Plan your run
Explore each area thoroughly before moving on. Check containers and side paths for equipment and useful objects, and keep healing resources available before entering unfamiliar combat zones.
Use the environment to create space from groups of enemies. Upgrade or replace equipment when possible, and revisit earlier areas when a newly acquired item opens a previously inaccessible route.
Before you begin
Search side rooms and dead ends for useful items.
Avoid fighting large groups in confined spaces.
Keep healing items available before entering dungeons.
Hexplore is an isometric action role-playing game developed by Doki Denki and published by Infogrames for DOS in 1998. It follows a young adventurer who travels through a medieval fantasy world while investigating a magical threat and confronting hostile creatures. The game combines real-time combat, exploration, light puzzle solving, equipment management, and role-playing progression. Its presentation uses a fixed three-quarter perspective with pre-rendered environments and animated characters. Hexplore was designed primarily as a single-player experience, with an additional cooperative option in supported versions. Contemporary coverage generally recognized its accessible action-oriented design and colorful presentation, although it received a mixed overall reception because of repetitive combat and uneven technical execution.
