Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game is viewed from inside the hovercraft, with the arena and nearby obstacles displayed from a first-person perspective. Depending on the selected mode, the objective is to finish a course, collect or defend flags, or tag opposing craft.
Players steer through enclosed courses, use open space to build speed, and avoid walls and arena hazards. Progress comes from completing events and improving performance rather than from a conventional story campaign; the available modes provide the main structure for repeated play.
Plan your run
Learn each arena before attempting fast runs. Wide turns preserve speed, while sharp corrections near walls can cost more time than they save.
In objective-based modes, plan routes around the position of flags and opponents instead of treating every event like a race. Use the arena layout to break pursuit and approach targets from open space.
Before you begin
Memorize corners and obstacle locations before concentrating on speed.
In flag objectives, route planning is often more valuable than direct pursuit.
Hover! is a first-person hovercraft racing and action game developed and published by Microsoft for DOS in 1995. It places the player in an enclosed arena where speed, maneuvering, and object collection are more important than conventional lap racing. Several play styles combine races with competitive arena objectives, giving the game a distinctive mix of driving and arcade action. Its colorful 3D presentation was technically notable for a DOS title, especially because Microsoft distributed it as a hidden game in a Windows 95-era CD-ROM. Hover! received attention for its unusual premise and accessible controls, and it remains best remembered as a playful technology showcase rather than a major long-running franchise.
