How it plays

How does Ignition play?

Races use a top-down or elevated perspective, with the camera following the selected car around closed circuits. The objective is to finish ahead of the other competitors while managing corners, jumps, hazards, and vehicle damage.

Players choose from several cars and progress through events and tracks. Success depends on braking or releasing the accelerator before difficult turns, taking jumps cleanly, and using each vehicle's strengths effectively. The DOS version is designed primarily for keyboard-based arcade racing.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Ignition?

Learn each circuit before attempting to maximize speed. A clean line through corners is usually more valuable than entering a turn at full speed.

Use jumps and shortcuts cautiously, avoid unnecessary collisions, and select a car whose handling suits the track. In multiplayer races, defensive positioning can be as important as outright acceleration.

Before you begin

What should you know before playing?

  1. 1

Brake early for tight corners and recover quickly after jumps.

  2. 2

Try different vehicles because their handling and speed characteristics vary.
