Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game is viewed primarily from an in-car cockpit perspective. Players control an open-wheel car around modeled circuits, aiming to set competitive qualifying times and finish races ahead of the field.
Events involve practice, qualifying, and race sessions. Driving requires steering accurately, managing acceleration and braking, choosing racing lines, conserving tires and fuel, and making pit stops when necessary. Progression is based on improving performance and completing races rather than unlocking a conventional campaign.
Plan your run
Learn each circuit in practice before attempting a full race. Brake in a straight line, turn smoothly, and begin accelerating only when the car is pointed toward the corner exit.
Use qualifying to establish a clear starting position, then protect the tires and fuel during the race. Plan pit stops around tire condition and fuel needs, and use the draft on long straights when overtaking is safe.
Before you begin
Practice braking points and corner exits before increasing race distance.
A stable car setup is usually more useful than an aggressively fast but difficult setup.
Watch tire and fuel condition when planning pit strategy.
IndyCar Racing is a 1993 open-wheel racing simulation developed by Papyrus Design Group and published by Virgin Games for DOS. It models the cars, circuits, and competitive structure of American Indy-car racing, emphasizing vehicle setup and racecraft rather than arcade-style driving. Players can practice, qualify, and compete in races where tire wear, fuel use, drafting, cornering, and pit strategy affect the result. The game was recognized for its detailed physics, cockpit presentation, and demanding handling. Its realism made it influential among computer racing simulations, although the steep learning curve and technical presentation could be intimidating for players seeking immediate action.
