IS-2
The player-controlled combat mech used for all missions.
How it plays
The game is played from inside the Iron Soldier’s cockpit. Missions generally require the player to travel through a battlefield, destroy designated enemies or structures, and reach the extraction or completion point while managing damage and ammunition.
The player can move through open urban environments, aim weapons around the cockpit view, and switch between available armaments. Missions become more demanding as enemy defenses grow stronger and objectives require more careful positioning. Progression is mission-based rather than built around character statistics or equipment crafting.
Plan your run
Learn the layout of each mission before committing to long attacks. Use cover and buildings to reduce exposure to enemy fire, and avoid wasting powerful ammunition on targets that can be handled with standard weapons.
Keep moving when facing groups of enemies, but slow down near objectives so that threats and routes can be checked. Preserve health and specialized ammunition for heavily armored machines and mission-critical defenses.

Iron Soldier 2 is a first-person mecha action game developed by Eclipse Software Design and published by Telegames for the Atari Jaguar CD. It places the player in control of a powerful combat robot during missions against enemy machines, installations, and strategic targets. The game combines cockpit-based shooting with movement through three-dimensional battle areas and a selection of weapons suited to different threats. Its CD presentation supports more substantial audio and visual material than the original Jaguar release. The game was regarded as an ambitious technical showcase for the Jaguar, although its limited platform audience kept it a niche release.
