How it plays
The game alternates between an overhead strategic view and turn-based isometric tactical battles. Players recruit mercenaries, assign equipment, travel between sectors, and fight enemy forces while managing health, fatigue, ammunition, and morale.
Battles use action points for movement, shooting, changing stance, reloading, throwing items, and interacting with objects. The campaign follows a structured series of operations rather than the large-scale territory-conquest model of Jagged Alliance 2. Mercenaries gain experience and improve their attributes and skills as the operation progresses.
Plan your run
Preserve action points for reactions and overwatch-like responses instead of spending every point on movement. Use cover, crouching, darkness, and controlled bursts to reduce incoming fire.
Keep weapons repaired, carry suitable ammunition, and rotate fatigued mercenaries. Save explosives for clustered enemies or fortified positions, and search sectors carefully for supplies before advancing.
Meet the cast
The exiled Arulcan president whose request for help sets the wider conflict in motion.
A resistance leader associated with the struggle against the forces threatening the region.
Before you begin
Use mercenaries whose skills match the mission rather than building every squad around firearms.
Reload and repair during safe moments; damaged weapons and exhausted mercenaries can decide a battle.
Check bodies and containers after combat for ammunition, medical items, and useful equipment.
Jagged Alliance 2: Unfinished Business is a turn-based tactical strategy and role-playing game developed by Sir-Tech Canada and published by TalonSoft. It continues the mercenary warfare of Jagged Alliance 2, sending the player to the fictional country of Arulco’s neighboring territory, Tracona, where a missile threat must be stopped. The game combines strategic planning, equipment management, character development, and detailed squad combat. Its campaign is more compact and combat-focused than its predecessor, while retaining the series’ distinctive mercenary personalities and simulation-heavy systems. Critics generally regarded it as a worthwhile expansion-style follow-up, although its reduced scope and lack of the original’s broad strategic map made it feel less ambitious.
