How it plays
The game uses a side-scrolling perspective. Players move through themed stages, defeat enemies, collect gems and carrots, find power-ups, and reach the end of each level. Levels contain platforms, springs, hazards, secret routes, and switches.
The campaign is organized into episodes with multiple stages and boss encounters. Jazz and Spaz use different movement abilities, and weapons can be upgraded or replaced by collecting pickups. Multiplayer includes cooperative campaign play and competitive modes such as battle and race challenges.
Plan your run
Explore each stage rather than rushing directly to the exit. Secret passages often contain extra lives, gems, weapon upgrades, and safer routes around hazards.
Save stronger weapons for dense enemy groups and bosses, and learn the timing of springs and moving platforms. In multiplayer, coordinate weapon pickups and avoid blocking narrow passages during cooperative play.

Before you begin

Different weapons are useful in different situations, so do not spend every powerful pickup immediately.
Jazz Jackrabbit 2 is a fast-paced 2D action platformer developed by Epic MegaGames and published by Gathering of Developers in 1998. It follows Jazz and his brother Spaz as they pursue the villain Devan Shell after Princess Eva is kidnapped. The game combines traditional platforming with run-and-gun combat, colorful cartoon presentation, secrets, and collectible items. Its campaign supports solo play and cooperative play, while competitive multiplayer adds several distinct modes. The game was well received for its responsive controls, lively level design, humor, and strong multiplayer options, although its Windows and Macintosh releases—not DOS—are the documented original versions.
