How it plays

How does Jeopardy! play?

Players choose a category and clue value from a game board, then enter an answer in the show's question-and-answer format. Correct responses add the clue value, while incorrect responses reduce the score when applicable.

The game follows the television format with regular clue rounds, Daily Doubles, and a Final Jeopardy round. Players progress through the board by selecting available clues, responding within the time limit, and wagering points in designated rounds.

What is the best way to play Jeopardy!?

Read every category carefully before committing to a clue, since some categories reward specific knowledge rather than general familiarity. Keep track of remaining high-value clues and use the board to seek favorable subjects.

During wager rounds, protect a lead when the position is secure and wager more aggressively when a comeback is necessary. Enter responses in the expected answer-and-question style when the game requires it.

Before you begin

What should you know before playing?

  1. 1

Use lower-value clues to learn the category's subject and difficulty before risking larger wagers.

  2. 2

Reserve enough points for the possibility of a Daily Double or Final Jeopardy wager.

  3. 3

The question database is central to the experience, so repeated play may eventually reveal familiar clues.
