How it plays

How does Kaissa play?

Kaissa uses a top-down chessboard perspective. The objective is to defeat the opposing side by checkmating its king, while legal moves, captures, checks, castling, promotion, and other standard chess rules govern play.

The game supports chess matches rather than a staged adventure. Depending on the version and selected options, players may face the computer or another human, choose sides, and adjust play conditions or difficulty. Progression is match-based: there are no documented characters, items, experience levels, or campaign unlocks.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Kaissa?

Develop minor pieces early, fight for the center, and castle before the king becomes exposed. Avoid moving the same piece repeatedly in the opening unless there is a concrete tactical reason.

Before every move, check captures, checks, and direct threats for both sides. In the endgame, activate the king and advance passed pawns carefully; when using a computer opponent, review lost games to identify tactical oversights.
