Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
Matches are viewed from above with the pitch scrolling as play moves around it. The objective is to score more goals than the opposing team before full time.
Players pass, shoot, tackle, change direction, and control the selected footballer while teammates and opponents move under computer control. Team selection and match or competition options provide progression, but the game is primarily focused on playing successive football fixtures rather than developing a long-term club.
Plan your run
Use short passes when opponents are close and move into open space before receiving the ball. Avoid holding possession in crowded areas, because quick tackles can immediately create a counterattack.
Shoot early when a clear angle appears, and keep defensive players between the ball and the goal. Learn the pace of the ball and the goalkeeper’s positioning before relying on long-range attempts.
Before you begin
Use the open flanks to create passing lanes.
Release the ball before a defender reaches the controlled player.
Defend patiently instead of repeatedly chasing the ball.
Kick Off 96 is a 1995 association-football game developed and published by Anco Software for DOS. It presents matches from a top-down perspective, emphasizing quick passing, direct shooting, and close control rather than a broadcast-style view. Players select teams, arrange a lineup, and compete in individual matches or broader competition structures, depending on the selected mode. The game belongs to Anco’s long-running Kick Off series and retains its fast, arcade-influenced approach while offering the expected football-management choices of its period. Its historical reception is mainly associated with the appeal of its speed and simple controls. It is best remembered as a late DOS entry in a major European football series, although its presentation and simulation depth are more limited than those of later 3D football games.
