How it plays
Players guide Kirby through side-scrolling stages, defeating enemies, inhaling them, copying abilities, and reaching the goal. The lower screen displays stored bubbles containing copy abilities, items, and other objects; players can select, combine, or discard contents during play.
Stages contain branching routes, treasure chests, switches, hidden rooms, and boss encounters. Completing levels unlocks further areas, while collected treasures expand the available ability and item selection. Kirby can also use helper-style abilities and special combinations to approach obstacles in different ways.
Plan your run
Search every branch before leaving a stage. Treasure chests often reward exploration and may require a particular copy ability or a switch-triggered route.
Use the touch-screen storage deliberately: keep a reliable combat ability, carry recovery items when possible, and combine compatible abilities when a stage's obstacles suggest a useful result. Against bosses, prioritize learning attack patterns over rushing damage.

Kirby: Squeak Squad is a side-scrolling action-platformer developed by HAL Laboratory and Flagship for Nintendo DS and published by Nintendo. Kirby sets out after King Dedede is blamed for stealing his strawberry shortcake, leading to a conflict with the treasure-hunting Squeaks. The game combines traditional running and jumping with Kirby's ability to inhale enemies and copy their powers. Its Nintendo DS design adds a touch-screen inventory for storing abilities, items, and treasure. The colorful presentation, forgiving difficulty, and collectible-focused exploration earned it a generally positive reception, although some critics considered it less inventive than earlier Kirby adventures. It remains a straightforward, content-rich entry for players who enjoy classic platforming and experimentation.
