How it plays
The game is viewed from a side-scrolling perspective. Spyro travels through linear stages, jumps across platforms, defeats enemies with melee attacks and elemental breath, collects items, and searches for routes through environmental obstacles.
Progression is stage-based. Players advance through several areas, encounter stronger enemies and hazards, and use Spyro's abilities to survive combat and reach the next section. The Game Boy Advance version focuses on single-player action rather than the larger exploration spaces of the console releases.
Plan your run
Learn enemy attack patterns before committing to close-range attacks. Use breath attacks when approaching groups or opponents whose contact damage makes melee combat risky.
Explore the edges of each screen for collectibles and alternate routes, and avoid rushing into new areas until nearby hazards and enemies have been identified. Save health for larger encounters by using safe platform positions when possible.

The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night is a side-scrolling action platformer developed by Amaze Entertainment for the Game Boy Advance and published by Sierra Entertainment in 2007. Spyro continues his search for answers after the events of The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning, while a prophecy and the threat of the Dark Master shape his journey. The game combines platforming, melee combat, dragon-breath attacks, exploration, and light puzzle solving across themed stages. Its handheld presentation differs substantially from the console versions, using a more traditional two-dimensional structure. Reception was mixed, with critics generally recognizing its faithful setting and accessible action while noting limited depth and repetitive level design.
