How it plays

How does Liero play?

Matches take place from a side-view perspective in a destructible cave. The objective is to reduce the opposing worm's health to zero while navigating tunnels, avoiding attacks, and using terrain for cover.

Players move, aim, fire, and switch among weapons during real-time battles. The standard game supports human-versus-computer and two-player local modes; rules such as health, ammunition, and weapon availability can be configured before a match. Victory comes from defeating the opponent, with the selected arsenal strongly influencing each encounter.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Liero?

Use the terrain as cover rather than staying in open spaces. Dig escape routes before committing to a fight, and keep a movement or defensive weapon available for emergencies.

Short-range weapons are powerful in tunnels, while explosives and bouncing projectiles can flush an opponent from cover. Conserve limited ammunition and learn the map layout so you can attack from unexpected angles.

Before you begin

What should you know before playing?

  1. 1

Create alternate tunnels so an opponent cannot easily trap you.

  2. 2

Switch weapons deliberately; powerful attacks are often limited by ammunition or reload time.
