Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
Races are viewed from behind the car in a fast, scrolling perspective. The objective is to complete each course competitively while managing corners, traffic, roadside hazards, and the car’s available performance.
Players can select from Lotus cars with different handling and speed characteristics, then tackle routes through varied environments. The game includes predefined races and a course-generation system for creating further challenges. Progress comes from finishing races successfully and improving performance across the selected sequence.
Plan your run
Brake before tight bends rather than entering them at maximum speed. Learn each route’s hazard placement, use the road width to set up overtakes, and choose a car whose handling matches the course. On unfamiliar generated tracks, prioritize control over top speed.
Before you begin
Use early braking for sharp corners and accelerate once the car is aligned with the exit.
Practice difficult courses repeatedly; memorizing hazards is more valuable than taking every corner aggressively.
Lotus III: The Ultimate Challenge is a 1992 DOS arcade racing game developed by Magnetic Fields and published by Gremlin Graphics. It presents high-speed races in licensed Lotus sports cars, combining straightforward driving with hazards, rival traffic, and selectable vehicle characteristics. The game is designed for quick, repeatable competition rather than simulation. Its major appeal is the combination of responsive controls, varied scenery, and a substantial race-selection system that gives the player more freedom than the earlier Lotus games. Contemporary players generally valued its speed and playability, although the DOS version’s presentation and input feel depend on the computer configuration.
