How it plays
Battles use a turn-based grid viewed from an angled overhead perspective. Players move allies across terrain, attack enemies, cast spells, use items, and exploit elemental or positional advantages before the opposing side acts.
The campaign is divided into story chapters and combat missions. Between battles, the party can shop, equip weapons and armor, speak with allies, and manage optional relationship events. Characters gain experience and become stronger through new equipment, abilities, and spell access.
Plan your run
Use terrain and turn order carefully rather than moving every character as far as possible. Protect fragile magic users, focus attacks to defeat enemies one at a time, and keep healing items available for unexpected critical hits.
Check equipment and skills between missions. Training weaker characters helps maintain a balanced party, while relationship events and optional conversations can provide additional story context and improve party management.

Luminous Arc is a fantasy tactical role-playing game developed by Imageepoch for the Nintendo DS. It follows Alf, a young knight who becomes involved in a conflict between the human kingdom and powerful witches. Battles take place on grid-based maps, combining turn-based positioning, weapon attacks, magic, and character abilities. Between missions, players visit towns, manage equipment, and build relationships with party members. The game was noted for its colorful presentation, animated attack sequences, and substantial voice work for a DS title. Reception was generally mixed to positive, with praise for its approachable battle system and criticism of its uneven story and slow pacing.
