How it plays

How does Lunar Legend play?

Lunar Legend uses a top-down exploration view. Jian moves through towns, overworld areas, and dungeons, speaking with residents, examining locations, collecting items, and advancing the story through scripted events.

Battles are turn-based. The party selects commands such as attacking, defending, using skills, or using items, then actions resolve according to the combat system. Experience improves characters after fights, while equipment and consumable items help prepare the party for tougher areas.

Progression follows a linear story structure with new locations, party developments, bosses, and dungeon challenges introduced as the adventure advances.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Lunar Legend?

Keep the party equipped with current weapons and armor before entering a new dungeon. Buy a reliable supply of healing items, especially before boss encounters.

Use defensive or healing actions when the party is weakened rather than relying on random battles to end quickly. Explore side paths in dungeons for treasure, and return to town when resources become low.

Save before major story events and bosses. Leveling a little in the area immediately before a difficult encounter is generally more efficient than repeatedly revisiting earlier locations.
