The game uses a top-down or angled field view during plays. The objective is to advance the ball, score touchdowns and field goals, and stop the opposing offense through a sequence of downs.

Players select offensive or defensive plays, control the active athlete, pass or hand off the ball, tackle, and manage special-teams situations. A season-oriented structure and football statistics provide progression, while individual games are decided by field position, clock management, and execution.

Choose plays that match the situation rather than relying on the same formation. Short passes, runs, and safe field-position gains are useful when protecting a lead.

On defense, watch the offensive formation and keep the deepest defender from being pulled out of position. Save timeouts for late-game clock management and avoid forcing low-percentage passes near the end zone.
