How it plays

How does Mega Man Battle Network 2 play?

Lan explores real-world locations while MegaMan navigates connected cyberworld areas from an overhead perspective. Story objectives involve talking to characters, solving network incidents, collecting key items, and defeating viruses or bosses.

Battles take place in real time on a divided grid. MegaMan can move, use his MegaBuster, and activate selected Battle Chips. Folders are assembled before battles, and the Custom Screen periodically lets the player choose chips for the next attack. Progression comes from new chips, NaviCust upgrades, HP increases, armor, and story rewards.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Mega Man Battle Network 2?

Build folders around a small number of compatible chip codes instead of carrying many unrelated attacks. Keep recovery chips and defensive options available, and use the Custom Screen to prepare combinations rather than spending every powerful chip immediately.

Learn enemy movement patterns and use MegaMan's side of the field for positioning. Upgrade the MegaBuster and NaviCust carefully, because incorrectly placed NaviCust programs can cause errors. Save before major missions and check new areas for merchants, mystery data, and optional battles.
