How it plays
Players guide Lan through towns, homes, schools, and other locations, then jack MegaMan.EXE into computers and networks. In cyberspace, MegaMan explores maze-like areas, solves simple obstacles, collects items, and fights viruses or bosses.
Combat takes place on a grid. MegaMan can move within his side of the field, fire the MegaBuster, or select Battle Chips from the folder. Chips provide weapons, attacks, recovery, support, and utility effects. Winning battles earns money, Zenny, and sometimes new chips; story progress opens new areas and stronger encounters.
Plan your run
Build folders around a few compatible chip codes instead of carrying unrelated attacks. Chips with matching codes can be selected together, making turns more consistent.
Use terrain and movement to avoid attacks while waiting for the custom gauge to fill. Save strong chips for bosses, keep recovery chips available, and revisit earlier network areas after gaining new access abilities.

Mega Man Battle Network is a science-fiction action RPG developed by Capcom Production Studio 2 and published by Capcom for the Game Boy Advance. It follows Lan Hikari and MegaMan.EXE as they investigate internet-based crimes and stop increasingly dangerous cyber threats. Exploration takes place in Lan's everyday world and in the connected cyberspace within electronic devices. Battles use a customizable folder of Battle Chips, blending real-time movement with deliberate card selection. The game received strong attention for successfully reimagining Mega Man as a network-themed RPG, and its distinctive combat system helped establish a long-running handheld series.
