How it plays
Players choose Vent or Aile, then explore large connected areas from a side-scrolling perspective. Missions are selected from the central settlement, and objectives include rescuing civilians, investigating incidents, defeating Mavericks, and securing new Biometals.
The protagonist can fire the Model X Buster, jump, dash, climb walls, and transform into additional forms. Defeated bosses provide Biometals that unlock new abilities and weapons. Exploration frequently returns to earlier areas, where newly acquired powers open alternate routes, hidden items, and optional challenges.
Plan your run
Explore each area thoroughly after obtaining a new Biometal. Revisit previously blocked passages to collect Sub Tanks, life upgrades, and other permanent improvements.
Use the map and mission markers to reduce backtracking. Study boss attack patterns, switch forms when a weakness is apparent, and conserve energy for charged attacks or difficult encounters.

Mega Man ZX is an action-platformer developed by Inti Creates and published by Capcom for Nintendo DS. Set in a distant future where humans and Reploids live together, it follows Vent or Aile after they merge with the Biometal Model X and become involved in a conflict surrounding powerful Mega Men. The game combines precise side-scrolling combat with interconnected exploration, ability-based progression, and mission selection. Its dual-screen interface supports maps, equipment information, and story events. Critics generally praised its fast controls, boss battles, and ambitious world design, while some found navigation and backtracking less approachable than in earlier Mega Man titles.
