How it plays

How does Mission: Impossible play?

The game presents missions from a side-view perspective. The player guides an IMF agent through hostile areas, avoids or confronts opponents, and works toward an assigned objective rather than merely clearing every screen.

Progression is organized around separate operations with different locations and hazards. Exploration, timing, and using the available route correctly are important, while mistakes can cost lives or force a restart. The DOS version does not provide a broad character-development system or freely selectable campaign structure.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Mission: Impossible?

Study each area before committing to movement, especially where enemies or hazards can be approached from more than one direction. Prioritize the mission objective over unnecessary confrontations.

Use careful timing around patrols and obstacles, and restart promptly after a failed attempt so that you can apply what you learned. The game rewards memorizing routes more than rushing.

Before you begin

What should you know before playing?

  1. 1

Treat each operation as a route-planning exercise rather than a straightforward run-and-gun level.

  2. 2

Learn enemy and hazard timing before trying to maintain a fast pace.

  3. 3

Avoid unnecessary risks when the objective is already within reach.
