Partners level up, evolve, and grow stronger as the story advances through gyms and regional events.

Build a balanced party early so you can handle a wide range of type matchups. Talk to NPCs in every town; important clues and items are often hidden in conversations. Keep healing items stocked before gym battles, and train your main team to a level close to the next major boss. Against stronger opponents, use status effects, switching, and type advantage to gain momentum.
