Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game uses a side-view perspective. The astronaut moves through individual Mars stages, avoiding hazards, dealing with hostile creatures, collecting useful items, and reaching the exit.
Progression is based on completing stages and navigating increasingly complex layouts. Exploration, timing, and learning the placement of traps are as important as direct action.
Plan your run
Study each room before moving quickly, because hazards and enemies are often placed to punish blind jumps. Approach switches and narrow platforms carefully, and use safe ground to observe enemy movement.
When a route seems blocked, search the surrounding area for a switch, passage, or alternate platform rather than repeatedly forcing the same jump. Conservative movement is usually more reliable than speed.
Monuments of Mars is a DOS platform game developed by Scenario Software and published by Apogee Software in 1991. The player controls an astronaut investigating mysterious structures on Mars, where hazardous terrain, enemies, switches, and environmental puzzles block the route forward. Its design combines side-view action with careful exploration and occasional trial and error rather than relying only on fast combat. The game was distributed through Apogee’s shareware model and is remembered as a compact early PC platformer with atmospheric science-fiction scenery, demanding jumps, and a sometimes unforgiving difficulty curve.
