Moorhuhn
The cartoon chicken targets that appear throughout the shooting stage.
How it plays
The game presents a fixed countryside view from the hunter’s perspective. Chickens appear at different distances and positions, and the player aims at them with the mouse before firing. Targets may move quickly or remain partly hidden, so observation and reaction speed are important.
Each round is time-limited. Shooting chickens increases the score, while missed shots reduce the available ammunition or waste opportunities. The main progression is score improvement through repeated attempts; there is no conventional character level system, campaign, or story mode documented for the DOS game.
Plan your run
Prioritize nearby or fast-moving chickens before spending time on distant targets. Keep the cursor near areas where birds commonly appear, but scan the entire scene regularly so that easy targets are not missed.
Accuracy matters because ammunition and time are limited. Learn the fixed scene layout and use repeated runs to identify predictable targets and improve the score.

Moorhuhn is a fast arcade shooting game developed and published by Phenomedia AG for DOS in 1999. The player takes the role of a hunter aiming at chickens flying and moving across a countryside scene. Its core premise is deliberately simple: score as many points as possible before the timer expires. The game uses a first-person shooting perspective and emphasizes quick mouse aiming rather than exploration or story progression. The original German release became a notable casual hit and helped establish Moorhuhn as a recognizable game character in Germany. Its short rounds, accessible controls, and score-focused design made it suitable for repeated play, while the lighthearted presentation kept the tone humorous rather than realistic.
