Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
Each round takes place in a single-screen, top-down arena filled with solid walls and destructible blocks. Players move around the grid, place bombs, and use the resulting blast lines to destroy blocks or hit opponents.
Bombs detonate after a delay, so positioning and escape routes are important. Destroyed blocks may reveal power-ups, allowing players to improve bomb range or other abilities. The objective is to be the last surviving player; exact match options and progression details can vary by version.
Plan your run
Keep an escape route open before placing a bomb, especially near corners or solid walls. Use chain reactions to clear blocks, but avoid standing near a bomb whose blast path may be extended by a newly revealed power-up.
In multiplayer, watch opponents as closely as the explosions. Blocking a route or timing a bomb near a narrow passage is often safer than chasing another player directly.
Before you begin
Do not place a bomb unless you can reach a safe tile before it detonates.
Clear nearby destructible blocks early to create movement space.
Treat every power-up as a risk if collecting it closes your escape route.
Mr. Boom is a top-down action game for DOS built around the classic bomb-arena formula. Players control compact characters in enclosed arenas, place timed bombs, and try to eliminate opponents while avoiding their own explosions. Destructible blocks and temporary power-ups make each round change as the arena opens up. The game is primarily designed for local multiplayer and is notable for supporting a large number of simultaneous players on one computer. Its simple rules make it easy to understand, while crowded arenas create unpredictable chain reactions. Mr. Boom received limited mainstream critical coverage, but it remains associated with the freeware DOS multiplayer scene and is remembered mainly for its energetic group play.
