How it plays

How does Nectaris play?

Battles use a top-down map divided into movement spaces. The objective is normally to destroy the enemy force or capture the designated objective while preserving enough strength to continue the campaign.

Players select units, move them across terrain, and attack when a target is within range. Terrain affects movement and combat, while different unit types are suited to direct assaults, ranged fire, transport, or support. Scenarios are played in sequence, with the next map providing a new tactical problem rather than a large-scale economic progression.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Nectaris?

Study the map before moving. High ground, cities, forests, and other terrain can change the efficiency of an attack or protect a vulnerable unit.

Keep ranged units behind tougher formations, avoid exposing transports, and concentrate several attacks on one enemy unit instead of spreading damage across the entire opposing force. Preserve specialized units when a scenario gives no practical way to replace them.

Before you begin

What should you know before playing?

  1. 1

Use terrain bonuses before relying on numerical strength alone.

  2. 2

Check movement and attack ranges before committing a unit.

  3. 3

Focus fire to remove enemy units one at a time.
