Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game uses a side-on perspective. The warrior advances through linear stages, jumps across platforms, avoids hazards, and attacks enemies with his weapons. Levels are built around successive encounters and environmental obstacles, ending with more demanding sections or bosses.
Progress depends mainly on surviving each stage rather than developing statistics or assembling a party. Players must manage spacing, recognize enemy attack patterns, and avoid losing health to crowded encounters. The supplied DOS version has no separately documented multiplayer mode.
Plan your run
Keep moving through enemy groups instead of allowing several opponents to surround the warrior. Use platforms and open space to separate threats, and approach unfamiliar sections cautiously so hazards do not remove health before the next fight.
Because progression is stage-based and character growth is limited, consistent survival is more valuable than rushing. Learn the timing of recurring enemy attacks and preserve lives or continues for later sections.
Before you begin
Advance cautiously when the screen introduces a new enemy or obstacle.
Avoid fighting multiple enemies in a confined space when a safer route is available.
Onslaught is a side-scrolling action game developed by 21st Century Entertainment and published for DOS by U.S. Gold in 1990. The player controls a heavily armed warrior battling through hostile territory filled with soldiers, creatures, and other hazards. Its play style combines platform movement, close-range combat, and careful positioning rather than complex character progression. The DOS release belongs to the late home-computer action tradition, with a straightforward level-by-level structure and a strong emphasis on repeated combat encounters. Contemporary response was mixed, reflecting solid presentation and action alongside limited variety and demanding difficulty. It is chiefly remembered as an adaptation of an Amiga-era action title.
