Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game uses a strategic management perspective. Players select premises, arrange restaurant interiors, set prices, buy ingredients, develop pizzas, and manage staff while watching finances and customer satisfaction. Pizza recipes can be assembled from different ingredients, making menu design part of the competition.
Cities provide multiple locations and rival businesses. Progress comes from earning money, improving restaurants, researching or refining products, and expanding the company. The main challenge is balancing food quality, operating costs, advertising, service, and local demand rather than simply maximizing one statistic.
Plan your run
Begin with a manageable restaurant and keep fixed costs under control. A smaller menu with reliable ingredients is safer than investing heavily in many recipes before demand is established.
Study local competition and customer preferences before expanding. Improve service and product quality when finances allow, but retain enough cash for wages, supplies, rent, and unexpected weak periods. Expansion is strongest after the first restaurant produces a stable profit.
Pizza Connection is a business simulation and strategy game developed by Software 2000 and published by ASCARON for DOS in 1994. The player builds a pizza business from the ground up, choosing locations, designing restaurants, creating recipes, hiring staff, and competing against rival chains. Its play style combines economic planning with a lighthearted pizza-making theme, while the campaign structure emphasizes gradual expansion across multiple cities. The game was noted for presenting management systems in an accessible and humorous way, giving it a distinctive identity among European business simulations of the period. Its unusual subject, colorful presentation, and broad set of business decisions helped it gain a lasting cult reputation, although its many interlocking systems can initially feel demanding.
