How it plays

How does Pokémon: FireRed Version play?

The game uses a top-down perspective for exploration and a menu-driven first-person perspective during battles. The main objective is to earn eight Gym Badges, defeat the Elite Four, and become Champion while completing the Pokédex.

Players travel through connected routes and towns, solve environmental obstacles, catch wild Pokémon, and fight Trainers. Pokémon gain experience, learn moves, evolve, and can be exchanged or used with field abilities. After the main story, the Sevii Islands provide additional areas and objectives.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Pokémon: FireRed Version?

Build a balanced team with different types rather than relying on one powerful Pokémon. Keep a reliable answer to Water, Electric, Grass, and Psychic matchups, and carry status-healing items for long routes and caves.

Train several Pokémon near the same level before each Gym. Save stronger resources for the Elite Four, and remember that Pokémon Centers restore the party at no cost.
