How it plays
The game uses a top-down exploration perspective. Players move through towns, routes, caves, and buildings, speak with characters, collect items, and progress through a revised version of the Johto storyline.
Battles are turn-based. A party of Pokémon uses learned moves against wild Pokémon and opposing Trainers; Pokémon can gain experience, level up, evolve, and learn new techniques. Gym victories provide badges and advance the main journey.
The adventure includes access to Johto and Kanto content, with exploration, optional encounters, side activities, and Team Rocket events forming the main progression structure.
Plan your run
Build a balanced party with different types and keep several Pokémon trained rather than relying on one lead.
Carry healing items before entering caves or major story areas, and revisit earlier routes when a new field ability opens another path. Save before important battles, rare encounters, and evolution or trade-related decisions.

Pokémon: Liquid Crystal is an unofficial role-playing game created by linkandzelda for the Game Boy Advance. It reimagines the Johto adventure of Pokémon Crystal with a FireRed-based engine, updated visuals, expanded areas, and additional content. Players travel through Johto and later Kanto, catching Pokémon, challenging Gym Leaders, and opposing Team Rocket. The game follows the traditional turn-based structure of the series while adding features associated with later Pokémon releases. Liquid Crystal became well known in the fan-game community for its ambitious scope and effort to recreate Crystal in a more modern handheld format. Its status as an unofficial project means release details and feature sets can vary between builds.
