How it plays
The game uses a top-down perspective. The player travels through Oblivia, accepts Ranger missions, investigates disturbances, rescues people and Pokémon, and captures wild Pokémon by drawing repeated loops around them with the stylus.
Captured Pokémon provide temporary Field and Poké Assist abilities, such as clearing obstacles or improving the Capture Styler. Progression unlocks new areas, missions, partner options, and stronger Ranger equipment. The story includes standard solo play and additional multiplayer missions for compatible systems.
Plan your run
Capture Pokémon early and keep a varied party of temporary assists. Different Poké Assists are useful against different targets, and a Pokémon’s Field Move can determine whether an obstacle or mission objective can be cleared.
Use short, controlled stylus loops rather than large careless circles. Avoid drawing through hazards, watch the Capture Styler’s energy, and revisit areas after gaining new Field Moves. Save before difficult missions when possible.

Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs is an action-adventure game developed by Creatures Inc. for Nintendo DS and published by Nintendo. It follows a Pokémon Ranger working to protect the island region of Oblivia from the Pokémon Pinchers and other threats. Instead of weakening Pokémon with conventional battles, the player uses the DS stylus to draw Capture Styler loops around wild Pokémon and temporarily enlist their help. The game combines field exploration, mission-based progression, light puzzles, and cooperative support from partner Pokémon. Its story-driven presentation, touch-focused controls, and expanded multiplayer features received generally favorable attention, although the capture system can become demanding during hectic encounters.
