How it plays
How does Pokémon: Ruby Version play?
The game uses a top-down perspective for exploration and a first-person battle view. The main objective is to earn eight Gym Badges, reach the Pokémon League, and become the Champion while completing the regional Pokédex.
Players move through connected routes and towns, fight wild Pokémon and Trainers, catch Pokémon with Poké Balls, and build a party of up to six. Turn-based battles use moves, types, Abilities, held items, and experience levels. Progress unlocks new areas and abilities, while optional Pokémon Contests, secret bases, fishing, and link battles provide additional activities.
