How it plays

How does Pokémon Sapphire Version play?

The game uses a top-down perspective for exploration and a first-person battle presentation. The main objective is to travel across Hoenn, defeat eight Gym Leaders, earn badges, and challenge the Elite Four and Champion.

Players explore routes, towns, caves, oceans, and other areas while catching Pokémon, managing a six-Pokémon party, learning moves, and using field abilities. Progress opens new locations and story events. Optional activities include Pokémon Contests, the Battle Tower, fishing, item collection, and post-game exploration.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Pokémon Sapphire Version?

Build a balanced party with different types rather than relying on one powerful Pokémon. Pay attention to weaknesses, status effects, accuracy, and move power during major battles.

Carry healing items, keep several Pokémon near the same level, and revisit areas after obtaining new field abilities. Save before legendary encounters and weaken the target carefully before attempting to catch it.
