How it plays
The game uses a side-view perspective across interconnected palace stages. The Prince runs, jumps, climbs, fights guards, activates mechanisms, and navigates traps while seeking routes toward each area's exit.
Progression comes from completing stages, surviving combat encounters, and using the Dagger of Time to reverse mistakes or manipulate nearby time effects. Exploration is largely linear, with platforming challenges and secret areas providing additional rewards.
Plan your run
Learn the timing of jumps before committing to long gaps, and approach traps slowly rather than relying on reflexes alone.
Save the Dagger's time-reversal power for failed jumps, unavoidable damage, or difficult combat situations. In fights, use short attacks and keep enough room to retreat from groups.
Meet the cast

Before you begin

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is a side-scrolling action-platformer developed by Ubisoft Casablanca for Game Boy Advance. It adapts the console and PC adventure into a compact 2D journey through a palace filled with traps, enemies, switches, and supernatural hazards. The player controls a young Prince who must recover the Dagger of Time and stop the Sands from corrupting the kingdom. Sword fighting, acrobatic movement, and limited time manipulation define the play style. The handheld version was generally recognized as a capable adaptation, although its structure and presentation differ substantially from the larger 3D releases.
