How it plays

How does Puyo Puyo Fever play?

Puyos fall from the top of a vertical well in pairs. Move and rotate each pair, connect four or more matching colors, and clear them before the stack reaches the top.

Clearing groups creates chains when falling Puyos form additional matches. In competitive play, chains generate nuisance Puyos for the opponent. The Fever gauge fills through normal clears; entering Fever provides a short sequence designed to produce large chains and reverse a dangerous position.

The game includes single-player progression and competitive play, with rules and available options varying by mode. Victory depends on planning the next placement while reacting quickly to the rising stack.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Puyo Puyo Fever?

Build chains rather than clearing every pair immediately. Leave a controlled space for future colors and avoid creating an uneven tower that limits rotation.

In Fever mode, prioritize safe clears until the gauge is ready, then use the provided sequence to extend the chain. In versus play, watch the opponent’s nuisance-Puyo warning and keep enough space to survive a counterattack.
