The Hero
The player-created adventurer whose class, skills, and choices shape the story and available solutions.
How it plays
The game uses a first-person exploration view with typed commands and icon-based interface actions. The player travels between city districts, desert locations, and dangerous ruins while investigating threats to Shapeir and Raseir.
Objectives combine conversation, item use, puzzle solving, training, and combat. Warrior, wizard, and thief abilities open different solutions and interactions. Time advances through daily routines, while improved statistics, spells, equipment, and imported character skills support progression.
Plan your run
Talk to residents repeatedly and revisit locations after major events; many solutions depend on time, class abilities, or information learned elsewhere.
Train relevant statistics and carry healing supplies. Save before combat, risky exploration, and major puzzle decisions. Imported characters can provide a substantial advantage, but each class has distinctive solutions.

Quest for Glory II: Trial by Fire is a fantasy adventure role-playing game developed and published by Sierra On-Line for DOS in 1990. It continues the story of the hero after the events of the first Quest for Glory, sending the player to the desert city of Raseir and the surrounding land of Shapeir. The game combines text-parser adventure mechanics, exploration, character development, and real-time combat. Players can import a character from the previous game or begin with a new hero whose class influences puzzles, dialogue, and abilities. Its larger world, stronger role-playing structure, and atmospheric setting were well received, although the parser and combat could be demanding. It is often regarded as one of the notable entries in Sierra’s classic adventure catalog.
