The Hero
The player-created adventurer whose class, skills, statistics, and earlier achievements shape the story.
How it plays
The game uses a third-person perspective with point-and-click and keyboard interaction. The Hero explores towns, wilderness areas, ruins, and other locations, examining objects, speaking with characters, collecting items, and solving situational puzzles.
Players choose or import a Hero class and improve skills through use and training. Combat occurs in real time and supports weapons, defensive actions, and class-specific magic. The story advances through quests involving the Simbani and Leopardmen, with some solutions depending on the Hero's class, statistics, and prior choices.
Plan your run
Talk to important characters more than once, and revisit locations after major story developments. Many quests have time-sensitive or class-sensitive solutions, so keep multiple saves before entering unfamiliar areas.
Train weak skills when possible and carry healing supplies. Explore thoroughly, but avoid assuming that every hostile encounter must be solved through combat; dialogue, magic, stealth, and specialized skills can provide alternative solutions.

Quest for Glory III: Wages of War is a hybrid adventure and role-playing game developed and published by Sierra On-Line for DOS in 1992. It continues the story of the player-created Hero, who travels to the land of Fricana to help resolve a conflict involving the Simbani and the Leopardmen. The game combines text-and-icon adventure interaction with exploration, character statistics, combat, spell casting, and skill development. As in earlier entries, the Hero's class and imported abilities affect available solutions and conversations. Its humor, world-building, and flexible quest design were well received, although its combat system and occasional difficulty were more divisive. Wages of War is also notable for advancing the series' ongoing story while preserving its distinctive role-playing adventure format.
