Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The campaign uses a strategic overhead map of the United States. The convoy travels between locations, investigates cities and facilities, gathers resources, and tries to build enough strength to survive in a hostile landscape.
Encounters can lead to vehicle combat and other tactical decisions. Players manage vehicles, fuel, weapons, ammunition, personnel, and captured equipment. Progress depends on choosing routes carefully, recruiting useful survivors, and preserving the convoy through repeated engagements.
Plan your run
Conserve fuel and ammunition instead of treating every encounter as an opportunity for combat. Route planning is important because a damaged or stranded convoy has few safe recovery options.
Recruitment and equipment management should be judged by long-term usefulness. Keep the convoy supplied, avoid unnecessary risks, and use reconnaissance or information-gathering options before committing valuable vehicles to a battle.
Roadwar 2000 is a post-apocalyptic strategy game developed and published by Strategic Simulations, Inc. for DOS in 1986. The player leads a motorized convoy across a devastated United States, searching for survivors, supplies, fuel, and useful technology while confronting rival gangs and hostile forces. Its play style combines an overhead travel map, resource management, recruitment, and tactical vehicle battles. Rather than presenting a purely reflex-driven driving game, it emphasizes planning and survival logistics. Contemporary and later discussions often recognize it as an ambitious, unusually detailed computer strategy title, although its interface and demanding systems can make it difficult for new players.
