Robbo
A small robot protagonist controlled by the player. Robbo explores each stage, avoids hazards, and gathers the parts required for progression.
How it plays
Each stage is viewed from above on a single screen. Robbo must navigate the maze, avoid hazards and hostile creatures, manipulate objects, and collect the required components before reaching the exit or completing the stage objective.
Progression is level based. Later screens introduce tighter spaces, more dangerous enemies, and combinations of elements that make route planning increasingly important. A mistake can force the player to restart the current puzzle and try a different sequence.
Plan your run
Study the entire screen before moving. Identify dead ends, one-way opportunities, hazards, and the order in which objects must be pushed or activated.
Move cautiously near enemies and reset a stage when an early mistake makes the remaining route impossible. Preserve safe corridors and avoid collecting or triggering an item until you know how it affects the puzzle.
Meet the cast
A small robot protagonist controlled by the player. Robbo explores each stage, avoids hazards, and gathers the parts required for progression.
Before you begin
Map the stage mentally before committing to a route.
Treat every movable object as part of the puzzle solution, not merely as scenery.
Restart early after a failed sequence instead of wasting time on an impossible position.
Robbo is a puzzle-action game developed by Polish designer Janusz Pelc and published by LK Avalon for DOS. The player guides a small robot through self-contained screens filled with walls, hazards, enemies, movable objects, and parts needed to continue. Its play style combines deliberate route planning with quick reactions when enemies or timed dangers are involved. The game is built around experimentation: a seemingly simple stage can require a precise order of movements and object interactions. Robbo originated in the Polish home-computer scene and became well known there for its compact levels, distinctive robot protagonist, and demanding puzzle design.
