How it plays
Players build paths, rides, roller coasters, shops, scenery, and facilities on a tile-based park map. Guests enter the park, form opinions about attractions and prices, and generate income through admission and purchases.
Scenarios provide objectives such as reaching a guest total, improving park rating, or developing a specific site. Players manage staff, research new attractions, inspect rides, adjust prices, and take loans when necessary. Coasters can be tested and edited by section, while time advances continuously and the park develops through research and investment.
Plan your run
Start with a compact park layout and connect attractions with short, clear paths. Prioritize reliable rides, food, drinks, toilets, and benches before building expensive coasters.
Monitor guest thoughts, ride queues, finances, and park rating regularly. Research strategically, hire enough mechanics and handymen for the park size, and test custom coasters before opening them to guests. Keep loan repayments manageable and use scenery and gentle rides to improve areas that guests find unattractive.
Before you begin
Read guest thoughts to identify specific problems with prices, queues, paths, and litter.
Place benches, toilets, food stalls, and drink stalls near busy ride areas.
Use ride inspections and mechanics to reduce breakdowns and maintain safety.
RollerCoaster Tycoon Deluxe is a construction and management simulation game developed by Chris Sawyer Productions and published by Atari. The player creates and operates an amusement park, balancing attractions, guests, staff, finances, and safety while trying to complete scenario objectives. The game is played from an isometric viewpoint and combines freeform construction with scenario-based progression. Deluxe includes the original game and its major expansion content, adding more parks, rides, scenery, and challenges. It was well received for its accessible interface, detailed simulation, and unusual ability to make complex coaster design approachable.
