Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game uses a third-person, mouse-driven adventure perspective. The player explores Roman locations, examines objects, speaks with characters, collects items, and solves situational puzzles in order to improve the protagonist’s position.
Progression follows a sequence of story events and objectives rather than a conventional level system. Success depends on visiting the right places, choosing useful interactions, and applying inventory items appropriately. There is no documented multiplayer mode or separate arcade campaign.
Plan your run
Examine each new location carefully and speak with available characters before leaving. Important progress often depends on information or objects obtained elsewhere.
Keep track of inventory items and revisit earlier areas when a new clue changes their usefulness. Save before major conversations or unfamiliar actions when possible.
Before you begin
Explore every accessible location before deciding that an objective is blocked.
Record useful clues and revisit characters after major story developments.
Rome: Pathway to Power is a historical point-and-click adventure developed by Firstlight and published by Maxis for DOS in 1992. The game places the player in ancient Rome, where an ordinary citizen seeks advancement through a changing political and social world. Exploration, conversation, item use, and problem solving drive the experience rather than combat or arcade action. Its presentation combines illustrated locations with a period-focused narrative and educational flavor. Reception was mixed: some players appreciated its unusual setting and ambition, while others found the interface, pacing, and historical simulation uneven. It remains a distinctive example of an early-1990s adventure built around Roman society.
