Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game uses an overhead perspective for exploration across a large post-apocalyptic world. The party travels between ruined locations, searches buildings, collects food and equipment, and encounters mutants and other hazards.
Combat is turn-based and emphasizes choosing suitable weapons and managing the condition of the party. Progress depends on finding supplies, learning which objects are useful, recruiting or preserving party members, and discovering enough information to reach the game's ultimate objective.
Plan your run
Search every accessible structure and keep a varied supply of food, weapons, and equipment. Do not assume that an unfamiliar object is worthless; scavenged items can be important for survival or progression.
Conserve resources, avoid unnecessary fights, and record useful discoveries. Exploration and experimentation are essential because the game provides limited guidance about its world and objectives.
Before you begin
Search ruins thoroughly before moving on.
Conserve food and useful equipment.
Record discoveries and test unfamiliar items carefully.
Scavengers of the Mutant World is a post-apocalyptic role-playing game developed by Ere Informatique and published by Interstel for DOS in 1988. Set after civilization has been devastated by war and environmental catastrophe, it follows a small group searching the ruins for supplies, useful technology, and a way to survive. The game combines overhead exploration, turn-based combat, resource management, and light puzzle-solving. Its unusual focus on scavenging gives ordinary objects practical value, while the hostile world and limited information create a deliberately demanding experience. Contemporary and later reception has generally highlighted its imaginative setting, dark humor, and open-ended exploration, although the interface and opaque objectives can make the game difficult for newcomers.
