Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
Players view the world from an isometric perspective and begin by placing a headquarters or other essential buildings. Workers gather materials, transport goods, construct facilities, and supply military structures through connected production chains.
The main objectives vary by map: expand the settlement, secure resources, defeat opponents, or fulfill scenario conditions. Progress depends on balancing food, tools, building materials, transport capacity, population, research, and soldiers. Roads and storage buildings are central to keeping the economy moving, while territory is expanded through military outposts and controlled land.
Plan your run
Plan road networks before placing large numbers of buildings, and keep important production chains close to storage facilities. A short, reliable transport route is often more valuable than a distant source of abundant resources.
Expand steadily rather than exhausting the starting area. Secure food and tool production early, protect frontier buildings, and maintain enough carriers and military supplies before beginning a major offensive.
Before you begin
Prioritize food, tools, wood, and stone during the opening phase.
Use storage buildings to shorten transport routes and reduce bottlenecks.
Expand military borders only after the economy can replace losses.
The Settlers III is a real-time strategy and economic simulation game developed and published by Blue Byte Software. Players establish a settlement, organize production chains, expand territory, and compete against rival civilizations while managing limited resources. Unlike conventional strategy games, its central challenge is the indirect coordination of workers rather than constant direct control of individual units. The game offers campaign scenarios, individual maps, and multiplayer-oriented skirmishes, with Roman, Egyptian, and Asian civilizations providing different visual themes and military identities. It was well received for its detailed economy, relaxed but demanding pacing, and distinctive settlement simulation, although its interface and lengthy production chains could make the learning curve substantial.
