How it plays

How does Shadow Knights play?

Shadow Knights uses a side-view perspective. The objective is to move through discrete stages, defeat or avoid enemies, negotiate platforms and hazards, and reach the end of each level.

The ninja can run, jump, attack with a sword, and use ranged weapons when available. Progress is based mainly on completing stages and surviving their hazards; exploration and combat are more important than equipment management or branching story choices.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Shadow Knights?

Learn the timing of jumps before committing to long gaps, and approach enemies cautiously rather than attacking while falling. Use the sword at close range, but preserve distance whenever a ranged attack is available.

Scan platforms and ledges for traps, avoid unnecessary contact damage, and repeat difficult sections until their enemy and hazard patterns become familiar. The game rewards patience more than rushing.

Before you begin

What should you know before playing?

  1. 1

Treat unfamiliar ledges as possible traps and advance one platform at a time.

  2. 2

Use ranged attacks to handle enemies that are unsafe to approach.

  3. 3

    Expect a demanding early-1990s action-platformer difficulty curve.
