How it plays

How does Simon the Sorcerer play?

The game uses a third-person, cursor-driven view of static screens and connected areas. Players guide Simon through the world, examine locations, talk to characters, collect objects, and combine or use inventory items to solve puzzles.

Progression is largely nonlinear within individual chapters, although major story events unlock new locations and objectives. There is no combat-focused system; advancement depends on observation, dialogue, experimentation, and recognizing humorous item interactions.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Simon the Sorcerer?

  • Examine every visible object and revisit locations after major story events.
  • Talk to characters repeatedly; new dialogue can reveal puzzle clues or change after progression.
  • Try inventory items on scenery and characters, but keep notes when a puzzle depends on a specific sequence.
  • Save before experimenting with actions that may create an unwinnable situation.
