How it plays
The game uses a side-view perspective. Each act requires the team to reach the goal while running through platforms, springs, loops, hazards, enemies, and alternate routes. Players collect rings, defeat enemies, and search for hidden Special Rings.
A world map connects zones and allows the player to choose routes. The leader determines the basic movement style, while the partner grants a special ability such as flight, climbing, gliding, or additional attack support. Story progression unlocks more areas and events, and the game includes multiple playable characters and a two-player mode.
Plan your run
Learn each leader-and-partner combination before committing to difficult routes. Flying, climbing, and gliding partners can reveal safer paths and hidden items, while attack-oriented support is useful in crowded sections.
Keep a reserve of rings before entering boss encounters, and explore branches rather than rushing straight to the goal. Search carefully for Special Rings and use checkpoint posts to reduce the risk of losing progress.

Sonic Advance 3 is a side-scrolling platform game developed by Dimps and published by Sega for the Game Boy Advance. It follows Sonic and his allies as they oppose Dr. Eggman, who has split the world into separate zones while attempting to assemble a powerful super robot. The game combines fast platforming with exploration, branching stage routes, and partner-based abilities. Players form teams from Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Cream, with one character acting as the leader and another providing support. Its colorful presentation, responsive controls, and expanded team system were generally well received, although some players found the level layouts and camera demanding.
