How it plays

How does Sonic Rush play?

The game uses a side-scrolling perspective, with stages extending across both DS screens. The main objective is to reach the goal while collecting Rings, defeating enemies, avoiding hazards, and maintaining momentum.

Sonic and Blaze follow separate campaigns with different abilities and boss encounters. Players progress through themed zones, encounter rivals and bosses, and use ramps, springs, rails, wall-running sections, and aerial tricks to explore alternate routes. Special Stages provide an additional challenge and can lead to Chaos Emerald or Sol Emerald progression.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Sonic Rush?

Learn to control speed instead of holding forward constantly. Brake before blind drops, preserve Rings when approaching boss arenas, and use ramps and rails to maintain momentum through long sections.

Explore alternate routes after learning each character’s movement. Aerial tricks can refill the boost gauge and improve speed, but attempting them near hazards is risky. Replaying earlier stages is useful for collecting Rings and practicing difficult transitions.
