Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game uses a first-person perspective from inside the tank. The main objective is to locate and destroy hostile targets in an arena while staying alive and managing movement through walls, obstacles, and open spaces.
Players drive, turn, aim, and fire as they progress through increasingly difficult combat situations. The DOS version is structured around individual arenas and survival-focused encounters rather than a character-driven campaign.
Plan your run
Keep moving instead of remaining exposed in open areas, and use arena walls as cover when enemies begin firing. Learn the layout of each arena before committing to a long pursuit.
Conserve safe firing opportunities and avoid turning blindly into unexplored corridors. When possible, attack from an angle that lets you retreat behind cover immediately after firing.
Before you begin
Use cover to break enemy sight lines.
Scan corners carefully before advancing.
Practice arena layouts to improve survival.
Spectre is a first-person tank-combat game developed by Peninsula Gameworks and published by Velocity Inc. for DOS in 1991. The player pilots a futuristic tank through enclosed arenas, searching for targets while avoiding enemy fire and hazards. Its play style combines direct shooting with arcade-style movement and spatial awareness rather than a conventional military simulation. The game was notable for presenting fast, three-dimensional combat from inside the tank, with a compact interface and several arena-based challenges. Reception generally emphasized its action-oriented design and distinctive perspective, although the limited visual detail and demanding navigation could make it feel unforgiving by later standards.
