How it plays
The game uses a side-scrolling perspective with exploration-focused stages. Spyro travels through themed areas, defeats enemies with his flame, collects gems, and searches for fairies and other objectives while helping restore fire to the realms.
Progression comes from completing tasks, finding collectibles, and gaining abilities that open previously inaccessible routes. Optional challenges and revisited locations provide additional goals beyond simply reaching the end of a stage.
Plan your run
Explore each area carefully before moving on. Collect gems and complete visible objectives, but remember that new abilities can make earlier locations worth revisiting.
Use Spyro’s flame against ordinary enemies and avoid rushing into hazards. When health is low, look for small creatures that Sparx can consume to recover. Mark difficult paths mentally so you can return after gaining the required ability.

Spyro 2: Season of Flame is a side-scrolling action-adventure platformer developed by Digital Eclipse for the Game Boy Advance and published by Universal Interactive. Spyro returns to the Dragon Realms after the fairies’ fire is stolen, leaving the world cold and threatening the balance of its inhabitants. The game combines exploration, combat, light puzzle solving, and collectible hunting across interconnected stages. Spyro can breathe fire, jump, glide, and eventually use additional abilities to reach new areas. Its compact presentation adapts the console series to handheld hardware while retaining familiar characters and objectives. Reception generally praised its colorful graphics, accessible controls, and amount of content, although some reviews found the backtracking and collision handling less polished than the home-console games.
