How it plays
The game presents Spyro in a three-dimensional adventure viewed primarily from behind, with exploration areas, hazards, enemies, and puzzle rooms. The main objective is to investigate the Shadow Realm, free imprisoned dragons, and defeat the forces responsible for the invasion.
Spyro can move, jump, glide, charge, breathe fire, fight enemies, and use shadow abilities. The Nintendo DS touch screen is used for drawing or activating certain spells and solving interactions. Progress comes from completing objectives and learning abilities that open routes or solve previously inaccessible obstacles.
Plan your run
Explore each area carefully and return to earlier locations after gaining new abilities. Many obstacles are designed to be solved later rather than immediately.
Use the touch-screen spell controls deliberately, especially during combat and puzzle sequences. Keep Sparx healthy, learn enemy attack patterns, and search side paths for collectibles and useful upgrades.

Before you begin

Spyro: Shadow Legacy is a Nintendo DS action-adventure platformer developed by Amaze Entertainment and published by Vivendi Universal Games. Spyro investigates a mysterious invasion that has trapped dragons in the Shadow Realm, gaining unusual shadow powers as he searches for a way to rescue them. The game combines exploration, platforming, combat, puzzle solving, and touch-screen spell casting. Its structure is built around revisiting areas after learning new abilities, giving the adventure a light Metroidvania-style progression. Reception was mixed: critics appreciated the attempt to adapt Spyro to the DS and its distinctive touch controls, but often criticized the uneven camera, combat, and technical limitations.
